Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

The night is Christmas eve
St. Nick will be here,
or so I believe

We wrapped the finally gifts
Patiently we waited,
for Santa in shifts

Gather with family to sing Christmas cheer
Drank eggnog for once
 rather than beer

Yule log burning with urgent desire
We snuggle down with friends
To get close to the fire

We made a tray of cookies for Santa
An apple for Rudolph
Whispered “Quiet! Did I hear a someone cough?”

Finally we went off to sleep
In hopes of presents
We may keep

With visions of toys dancing in or head
We couldn’t wait for morning
To get out of out beds

Morning came quickly enough
But waking mom and dad at five thirty
Was awfully tough

We got started opening our stockings
Little by little we tore into each
Looks on our faces very shocking

So Santa had eventually came
In the middle of the night
Left us presents by name

And to everyone who reads this
It’s my pleasure
Have a wonderful Christmas
